About LUMVOA
LUMVOA (veligrotug) is an infusion medication approved by the FDA in 2026 for thyroid eye disease. Like TEPEZZA, it targets the IGF-1R pathway involved in TED. Its approval includes both active and chronic thyroid eye disease.
PATIENT SELECTION
Who may be a candidate
Medication may be appropriate for selected patients depending on disease activity, severity, medical history, and risk profile. Not every patient with thyroid eye disease is a candidate, and for some patients observation, other medical treatment, or surgery is the more appropriate path.
WHAT TREATMENT INVOLVES
The course of therapy
LUMVOA is given as an intravenous infusion once every 3 weeks, for a total of 5 infusions over 12 weeks. Response is monitored throughout the course.

Reported side effects include muscle cramps, nausea, hair loss, fatigue, elevated blood sugar, hearing changes, and infusion reactions, among others. It can cause harm in pregnancy. A full review of history — including hearing and blood sugar — precedes any recommendation, with monitoring during treatment.
