When to refer to an oculoplastic surgeon
Blepharoplasty
Upper and lower eyelid surgery, functional or cosmetic — including patients who want a specialist for a refined or technically complex blepharoplasty.
Ptosis · Droopy Eyelids
Adult and complex ptosis repair, including cases where the eyelid obstructs the superior visual field.
Droopy Eyebrows · Brow Ptosis
Brow ptosis and brow lift evaluation, including brow descent contributing to upper-eyelid heaviness and hooding.
Medical therapy including teprotumumab and veligrotug for selected patients, orbital decompression, and eyelid rehabilitation.
Revision Eyelid Surgery
Unsatisfactory results or asymmetry following prior eyelid, ptosis, or blepharoplasty surgery.
Reconstruction & Orbit
Eyelid and periocular reconstruction after trauma or tumor removal — and second specialized opinions before complex cases.
HOW TO REFER
Send a case, reach the team
Call either office directly, or have your staff send records to the practice. Helpful records include: prior operative reports, clinical photographs, relevant imaging (CT/MRI of the orbits when available), visual field testing for functional cases, and recent thyroid labs for TED patients.
Urgency guidance: for patients with signs of optic nerve compromise in thyroid eye disease — declining vision or color vision, worsening despite treatment — please call the office directly rather than using online forms, and mark the referral urgent.
